Biography

Pooja Pawaskar, born in Mumbai in 1990 and now based in Ottawa, Canada, crafts narratives of self and imperfection through materials like wood and aluminum. Merging architectural knowledge from Mumbai University with a Master’s in Furniture Design from SCAD, USA, she navigates the realms of fine art and functional design with a contemporary organic abstraction approach. Inspired by her grandfather, a craftsman, her work embodies the wabi-sabi philosophy, celebrating life's natural flaws while maintaining a dialogue between sculpture and design. Pooja's creations, featured in notable exhibitions like ‘Upon Further Reflection’ at NYCxDESIGN and ‘Connection with Trees’ during DesignTO 2024, inspire a tactile engagement, drawing viewers into a personal journey of discovery through the medium of her art.
